Smacks, the painter’s counterpart who gave himself up to film-making, surges and is carried away in a cascade of blue, yellow and red polygons which seem to tumble down those yellow steps with blue rises, against a red background. It was the year when parodying the phrase of Barnet Newmann, his American colleague: “Who is afraid of Blue, Yellow, Red? “ the artist let the three primary colours invade the painting, drawing and carving of his universe.
