Stic B et huile sur toile | Collection particulière
In this very large work (almost one metre by two) the space of the canvas is that of an undergrowth punctuated by yellows and whites against a russet-brown background of geometrical trunks. In their nakedness they emphasize the sad bareness of autumn. There are paper-collages in the painted matter. The casein B stic paint softens the colours. The blue mingled with red against a yellow rectangle does not have the boldness and brightness of the 3 primary colours that will often be met with in the artist’s work. This canvas perfectly reflects the semi-withdrawn life of the painter at the time when he had to face material difficulties since he had to look for a place where to live and work as well as regain inner peace in order to fully recover his creativeness.
