Huile sur contreplaqué | Collection particulière
The years between 1956 and 1960 were a turning-point in his work. The object hardly exists any longer. It is but one of the patches of colours which are strewn over a space revealing the renewal of Mennessons’s universe. He daringly goes back to the glamour of bold red, enhanced by black which acts as lead in stained-glass windows and enlivens the white. Orange, yellow and pastel-blue complete this bright serene universe. Coffee-tin or recaptured inner joy ? There lies the very value of this small canvas.
