1979, A cloud over the sea

Encre sur bristol | Collection particulière

Still on the shore at Berck, Mennessons enjoyed watching the reflection of the wind-swept clouds in the water, which is the subject of this marquetry. Here the interplay of light and movements of the sea and sky make 3 hexagons with white or black centres, set in a triangle, reflect one another in a mirror-like effect. The link between the limited rectangle of the water and the unlimited one of the sea is achieved by the two cloud-hexagons. Everything is quivering as in nature.
